Expert In Refrigerant Gas Detection
SAMON was founded in Sweden in 1990. For over 30 years, we have been continually working to understand the developing needs of the refrigeration industry so that we can provide what our customers need. The market does not stand still. From changes in the types of refrigerants in use, to advances in control system technology – as the industry evolves, so do we.
Setting The Standards
For more than a decade, SAMON has taken an active role in the development of standards for the refrigeration industry. This includes contributing to arguably the most important standard in Europe for our industry, EN 378: Refrigerating systems and heat pumps – Safety and environmental requirements. Additionally, members of our team have been core contributors to the standard EN 14624: Performance of portable locating leak detectors and of fixed gas detectors for all refrigerants.
The important part of our work is to share our knowledge and expertise, helping to ensure that the standards are practicable, appropriate, and are a benefit to the whole industry.
SAMON has multiple team members recognised as refrigerant gas detection experts by the industry, which is why they have been invited to help develop these standards to which the industry must work. On a daily basis these experts are available to help our customers implement solutions bespoke to their own individual needs and challenges.
SIMPLICITY
At SAMON, we believe in keeping things simple. This means we make sure our products are simple to set-up and use, combining intuitive analogue interfaces and straightforward digital connectivity.
It is simple to integrate our products into control systems and building management systems using a variety of industry-standard output signals.
We also make sure that our products are easy to select, minimising the number of variants and part numbers.

We understand that reliability is of paramount importance to our customers because our products are essential for safety. We also know that our customers do not want to spend time fixing issues instead of focussing on the function and efficiency of their operations.
SAMON has had less than 0.001% warranty claims in over 30 years in business.

The Montreal Protocol (1987) initiated a radical reduction and phase out of CFCs and HCFCs and ever since even more severe reductions have been imposed on refrigerants with high global warming potential.
SAMON helps the industry to reduce and prevent leaks of these greenhouse gases by using refrigerant gas detection solutions where the risks are highest.
Of course, the refrigeration and airconditioning industry is developing alternatives with a lower impact on the environment.
This has seen an increase in the use of natural refrigerants, but these come with different risk factors. Many are potentially explosive, toxic, or asphyxiant, presenting a danger to life and health. A core part of SAMON’s mission is to keep people safe who are working in these dangerous environments, so at the end of the day they can go home to their families and friends.
The mitigation of gas leaks provides a material benefit to our customers by maximising system efficiency and production up-time, preventing spoilage of refrigerated goods, and preventing explosions of flammable gases.
